A confirmed talent
Champion of Spain Pre-Moto3 in 2016, Sergio Garcia made his debut in
CEV Moto3 the following year. He finished seventh in his first season
with a victory in Barcelona. Despite his four wins in 2018, he missed the
title due to an injury. However, his performances opened the doors for him to
the world championship in 2019 with the Estrella Galicia team. Winner of the
last race in Valencia, he failed to repeat in 2020. He still recorded two podiums to climb to ninth place in the championship.
Recruited by the Aspar team in 2021, he won three times and, despite missing two
races due to a kidney injury following a fall in
Austin, he finished in third place in the championship. He started the
2022 season with a bang with three wins and seven other podiums which allowed him to
lead a good part of the championship before being beaten by his teammate
Izan Guevara.
Fall, rebound, ambition
In 2023, he moved to Moto2 with Flexbox HP40, a team with which he recorded two Top 5 finishes. Following the withdrawal of the Pons team, he rebounded in 2024 with MT Helmets MSI riding a Boscoscuro. He dominated a good part of the season thanks to two victories before injuring his shoulder in Aragon and dropping to fourth place in the championship.
A title contender last
year, the rider SHARK unfortunately got injured again before the championship opened. Absent from the first Grands Prix, he never managed to regain his level before being sidelined by the MSI team. A stint with IntactGP at the end of the season allowed him to regain confidence and convince the Gresini team to sign him for the 2026 season.
