The meteoric rise of Raúl Fernández
Raúl Fernández begins the Spanish Championship in Moto3 at the age of 14, while also joining the Red Bull Rookies Cup, where he racks up podiums in succession. Third in 2016, he also shines in the CEV and discovers the Grand Prix scene as a replacement rider. A true Spanish champion in 2018, he joins the Moto3 world championship full-time the following year with the Nieto team, but finishes only 21st after a season marred by too many mistakes.
In 2020, he moves to Ajo, lands his first podium in Aragon, and records his first win at the European GP. He explodes in Moto2 the next year with eight victories, narrowly missing out on the title to his teammate Remy Gardner. Both move up to MotoGP with Tech3 KTM, but Fernández struggles to adapt and leaves the team for RNF Aprilia in 2023. Despite an aging machine, he secures a great fifth-place finish in Valencia.
Fernández: Progress in MotoGP
In 2024, under the TRACKHOUSE banner, he delivers his best season in MotoGP, with six Top 10s, 66 points, and a Sprint win very narrowly missed in Catalonia.
The 2025 season gave him a chance to take another step forward. With a more competitive Aprilia, and benefiting from a greater responsiveness from his team, the rider SHARK put together a strong end to the season, even earning his first victory in MotoGP at the Phillip Island circuit. This year, his goal will be to confirm this progress by being more consistent than he has been up to now.
