How to choose the right size for a helmet motorcycle?

For the helmet to protect effectively while being comfortable, it must be perfectly suited to its user. Choosing the right size is essential.

1. Measure your head circumference using a tape measure, positioning it about 2 cm above the eyebrows, as this is the point where your head circumference is largest. Once the measurement is taken, compare it with our size guide chart. If you feel a contact point that is too hard, opt for the larger size. You should be held firmly enough but without feeling pain.

2. Size trials should be conducted with the chin strap tightened. Check that you have good vertical and horizontal visibility. Ensure that your head can perform all these movements without particular discomfort. Check that with the chin strap tightened, the helmet cannot 'come off' your head when you try to tilt it forward with your hands by forcing. If the helmet comes off or is on the verge of coming off, it is either too large, or the chin strap is not properly tightened.

How to know if my helmet is well adjusted?

It should be well secured without creating painful pressure points.
When you move your head quickly, the helmet should not move.

Should a new helmet be a bit tight?

Yes, a new helmet should be slightly tight because the padding will compress over time.
However, it should not be uncomfortable.

Is a second-hand helmet safe?

It is not recommended to buy a second-hand helmet, as it is impossible to verify if the internal structure has been compromised by a shock or fall.

How to know if a helmet is counterfeit?

Try a model with a different shell shape or adjust the interiors if they are removable.

What is the best liner to limit sweating?

Hypoallergenic and breathable fabric liners like Coolmax or microfiber are ideal.

What is the difference between a helmet full-face, jet, modular and cross?

Jet: Ventilated, suitable for city

Which motorcycle helmet is recommended for city, road, or long trips?

City: Helmet jet or modular

Do motorcycle helmets have different sizes depending on the brands?

Thanks to a combination of multi-density foams and adaptive materials, this technology allows the helmet to adapt to different head shapes while ensuring a firm hold, increased comfort, and reduced pressure points.

Result: a more comfortable, better-fitting, and safer helmet, even during long riding sessions.

What is the lifespan of a motorcycle helmet?

helmets are made with high-quality materials to ensure their durability.

However, as they are used in varied conditions, it is difficult to precisely determine their lifespan.

Due to damage caused by UV rays, aging of adhesives and components, among others, SHARK recommends replacing your helmet every 5 years, even without a fall.

Which products should I avoid to prevent damaging my helmet?

The helmet must be approved (ECE 22.05 or 22.06 standard), have reflectors, and have its chin strap fastened.

Is a helmet purchased abroad approved in Europe?

A helmet must have UN ECE approval to be used in Europe.
A DOT (USA) helmet alone, for example, would not be sufficient.

Is a helmet with an integrated intercom approved?

Only accessories recommended and evaluated by the manufacturer during the helmet approval procedure can guarantee that the helmet's protective performance remains in compliance with approval standards.

Approved accessories must be installed according to the instructions provided in the manual.

Any modification of the helmet with the integration of an accessory not evaluated by the manufacturer voids the approval.

Are there any specific requirements for motorcycle passengers?

Yes, the passenger must wear an approved and fastened helmet, as well as approved gloves.

Can I add a Pinlock to my visor?

How does the SHARK warranty work?

We apply a 5-year warranty on our helmets and a 2-year warranty on our visors with just a purchase invoice, with the purchase date as proof, without any other obligation.

If during the warranty period a problem covered by the warranty occurs, SHARK Helmets, through its direct or indirect network, commits to repair or replace any defective elements up to the maximum purchase value of the helmet. Any labor costs would be assumed by the SHARK Helmets network but must be subject to prior agreement before the operation.

For more information consult our dedicated warranty page.

What is the procedure to assert your rights in case of a defect?

All after-sales service requests must be accompanied by the purchase invoice of the concerned helmet.

  • If you purchased your helmet from a SHARK Helmets dealer, please contact them directly to handle your request.
  • If you made your purchase on our official website, you can contact us via the contact form so that our customer service can assist you with your request.

This warranty does not affect the buyer's legal rights provided by national directives. It is valid for 5 years from the date of purchase. After this period, the warranty is void.

To ensure optimal safety and comfort, we recommend replacing your helmet after 5 years of regular use, even in the absence of impact. Natural wear, exposure to external elements, or certain impacts can alter the protective performance of the helmet.

For more information consult our dedicated warranty page.

What are the limitations and exclusions of the SHARK warranty?

Only material or manufacturing issues are covered during this warranty.

SHARK Helmets' responsibility for the product cannot be questioned in the following cases.

Any damage following:
1) a fall or an accident
2) a technical modification made by the user or a third party (glue, adhesives, paint, screws, etc.)
3) the use or contact: with harmful chemicals (including burning alcohol on visor treatments) or a significant heat source.
4) improper use: abnormal conditions (aquatic for example), lack of maintenance or care.
5) aging due to normal wear and tear of the internal fabrics and foams, the appearance of external parts or the visor (scratches, marks, etc.).
6) abnormal and prolonged exposure to UV, particularly for the colors of the decorations.
7) fluorescent colors (paints and/or decorations) on certain models of the SHARK Helmets range may fade over time and repeated exposure of the helmet to external elements, without it being considered a defect.
8) Paint damaged after the user sat on the helmet.
9) The assembly of our helmets is done by hand with great care. Variations in reflection, appearance or paint do not constitute a defect and are therefore not covered under warranty.

Good practices for maintaining your helmet: fluorescent colors may vary over time and with repeated exposure to UV (ultraviolet) radiation. To mitigate these effects and preserve the original colors of your helmet, SHARK Helmets recommends storing it away from light and avoiding prolonged, direct or indirect exposure of your helmet to UV rays.

Furthermore, SHARK Helmets cannot consider as defects covered by the warranty all subjective consequences due to use: comfort issues, size, noise or whistling, aerodynamics, etc. SHARK Helmets cannot be held responsible for the temporary unavailability required to upgrade the helmet to satisfy its owner.

In any case, 5 years is the maximum warranty period, and the replacement of any element during this time does not extend this duration.

For more information consult our dedicated warranty page.
